Kratom Quality Under the Microscope: Our Lab Tests & Analysis
At Kratom.eu, transparency and quality are our top priorities. That’s why we only offer carefully tested Kratom products from bigtrea®. But what does “tested Kratom” actually mean? Below you’ll learn why our kratom is tested, where it is tested, which parameters are checked—and why we publish some results while deliberately withholding others.

1. Why are laboratory tests necessary for Kratom?
Kratom powder can, in rare cases, be contaminated with heavy metals, pesticide residues, or unwanted microbes. To ensure that you receive only a clean, safe product, every reputable supplier subjects their stock to comprehensive testing before sale. At Kratom.eu, we make no compromises.
By analyzing the alkaloid profile, we also ensure that each batch contains the expected levels of mitragynine and other key alkaloids, keeping its composition consistently uniform.
2. Where is our Kratom tested?
In tests of identical, homogenized samples, various laboratories showed significant deviations in mitragynine values. Many competitors rely on fast, low-cost lab services whose analyses are often imprecise and tend to report the highest possible alkaloid levels. Our supplier Bigtrea, by contrast, searched meticulously for the laboratory that provides not the highest, but the most accurate results.
After extensive comparative trials, the choice fell on the Murray Brown Laboratory in the USA. Thanks to its outstanding expertise in alkaloid analysis, it delivers consistently precise and reliable results. Every batch of Kratom powder that reaches us is tested by Bigtrea there—for total assurance and genuine quality.
3. Why are only the test results for Bigtrea Premium Kratom published?
As a pure natural product, a single sample of Kratom can only ever provide an indication for the entire batch. A pallet of about 500 kg of Kratom, spread across around 20–25 boxes, inevitably exhibits variations: even within one box, mitragynine content can vary, since each leaf contains different concentrations. Upon receipt, a sample is taken from one box and tested—but it is not representative of the whole batch.
Only through thorough homogenization—mixing the entire batch over several hours, as is done for our Bigtrea Premium and Bigtrea Ultra Enhanced products—do we obtain a uniform sample that allows reliable conclusions.
For the sake of transparency and to avoid misunderstandings, we therefore publish only the analysis certificates of these homogenized Premium and Ultra-Enhanced batches. We do not release the test reports for our regular Kratom, as this could lead to incorrect assumptions about partial lots.
4. How is the hygiene of the Kratom powder ensured?
Before your Kratom powder arrives at our warehouse, it undergoes a microbial reduction process also used in the food industry. This step further lowers the microbial load and adds an extra layer of safety to the laboratory tests.
5. What parameters is our Kratom tested for?
To comprehensively ensure the quality and safety of our Kratom, Bigtrea has three main parameter groups analyzed: microbiological contamination, heavy metal content, and the alkaloid profile. In particular, the detailed analysis of key alkaloids such as mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine enables Bigtrea to reliably confirm the authenticity and consistent quality of each batch.
The selected microbiological test parameters provide insights into the purity of the raw material, potential environmental or fecal contamination at the source, and the effectiveness of our hygiene controls. This ensures that all processing and storage procedures meet the high quality standards of Kratom.eu.
Parameter | Description | Limit at Kratom.eu |
---|---|---|
Aerobic Plate Count (APC) | Total number of viable bacteria requiring oxygen for growth. | max. 1,000,000 CFU/g |
Total Coliform Bacteria | Bacteria from environmental and intestinal sources, indicating hygiene status and possible contamination. | max. 10,000 CFU/g |
Escherichia coli (E. coli) | Indicator for fecal contamination. | not detectable |
Staphylococcus aureus | Skin and mucosal bacterium capable of producing heat-stable toxins. | not detectable |
Salmonella spp. | Pathogenic bacteria; their presence indicates serious contamination. | not detectable |
Shiga-toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) | Highly toxic subgroups of E. coli. | not detectable |
Yeast & Mold | Fungi that can affect flavor, aroma, and shelf life. | max. 100,000 CFU/g |
In collaboration with experienced toxicologists, we have defined voluntary maximum limits that we adhere to strictly:
Heavy Metal | Description | Kratom.eu Maximum Limit [ppm] |
---|---|---|
Arsenic (As) | Metalloid with potentially hepatotoxic effects | 2.0 |
Cadmium (Cd) | Heavy metal that can accumulate in the body | 1.0 |
Lead (Pb) | Neurotoxic metal | 1.5 |
Mercury (Hg) | Potent neurotoxin | 0.5 |
The alkaloid profiling is performed by the Murray Brown Laboratory with exceptional precision. They use HPLC-DAD (High Performance Liquid Chromatography – Diode Array Detector) to accurately assess the distribution and concentration of the key alkaloids.
Our Kratom is tested for the following alkaloids:
- Mitragynine
- 7-Hydroxymitragynine
- Paynantheine
- Speciogynine
- Speciociliatine
- Isorhynchophylline
- Mitraphylline
Accurate quantification of these alkaloids is complex and can only be carried out by a handful of specialized laboratories.
Conclusion: At Kratom.eu, our testing covers the entire spectrum—from microbiological contaminants to heavy metals. Oversight by the Murray Brown Laboratory, combined with bigtrea’s long-standing expertise and our internal quality processes, guarantees you a safe and pure Kratom experience.
